I was in the mall when I passed the kiosk, and the salesman was trying to convince me that there was some magical air to this buffer. I saw the box was Deja Vu. I let him run the demonstration on my thumbnail. So he just buffed and buffed away with that huge cube for about two minutes while trying to fill in the time by using the complimenting technique (he went on and on this entire time about how beautiful my eyes were, all the while I was thinking, ‘yeah, yeah, what about your product?’). After he finished buffing, the nail was shiny and looked healthy.
This wasn’t due to any magic of this particular product. This was due to the fact that the overbuffing of the nail destroys the natural fibers that allows the nails to grow and become strong and durable. If you look at your natural nails, you’ll see those long, vertical lines, which are slightly rough to the tough, and create texture on the nail. These are the fibers of your natural nail, and this buffering product destroys that — which results in the fibers being disrupted, and the nail being vulnerable to damage; this is why the nail shines and feels so smooth afterward. Any buffer, and I do mean ANY buffer can do this to your nail. There’s no need to waste money on this product, when you can get the exact same results from a buffer at the dollar store, and natural shea butter to rub on your cuticles. Despite being satisfied with the results, at the time, I didn’t buy it, even after the demonstration.
I didn’t discover the reason why my nails had become so shiny without any polish or creams on it, until I got home and thought about it, and realized that my nail fibers that created texture were gone, and also felt as if my thumbnail had become noticeably weaker and less durable than it was before. Over the long run, I wouldn’t be surprised if overbuffing causes some short-term inability for the nail to grow at the rate it did before.
I wouldn’t buy this product at all.
